Please excuse the Dune reference, but spice blends rock my world. You wanna control the universe? Check out these 4 exotic blends. My love of foreign flavors started with the gate-way Garam Masala and it’s been hard to leave my food unadorned ever since.
Persian Palace – Organic cardamom seeds, rose buds, cinnamon and cumin seeds. Four of my favorite flavors on earth and my most popular blend.
Moroccan Magic – Organic coriander seed, cumin, black peppercorns, sweet paprika, smoked paprika and cinnamon bark. If you’ve never tried it, cinnamon and meat is a revelation!
Toasted Curry – Organic coriander, cumin, black peppercorns, fenugreek seed, cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom, cloves, ginger and chili peppers. Yes, curry powders are a dime a dozen these days, but many blends star the cheap and over powering spices without developing a complex flavor. Note turmeric is not even close to first on the list. In addition this is toasted to bring out a deeper flavor. Not hot spicy, just aromatic!
Sweet Garam Masala — Organic cardamom seeds, cinnamon bark, cloves and black peppercorns. This version of the Indian classic is toasted and super simple to add to any dish. A dusting gives just a hint of flavor while a spoonful will transform lowly cans of chickpeas into chana masala quicker than you can say “mulligatawny.”
These may be an obvious gift for the chef in your life, but I think they make even more sense for those folks who find cooking to be a hassle or just a mystery. Sprinkle any one of these on a chicken thigh or a lamb chop and pop it on the grill. Perfection. Saute a vegetable medley and finish with a spoonful of your favorite blend. Dinner is done. Voila.
All the blends are salt free. They’re made with whole, organic spices that are pan toasted and ground to order. None of the blends are hot-spicy, but all are aromatic-spicy! Get them for the special holiday price of $5 per 2oz. jar or get the whole set of 4 at $19!
