Herbal Training – Summer Immersion

Written on April 14, 2014 at 1:29 pm, by admin in Blog

I’m happy to announce that I am (finally) teaching a longer course. June 30th, we kick off an 8-week Summer immersion held at Sequoia Wellness + Apothecary in Garberville, CA. We’ll be meeting Monday from 10-2pm and delving into the world of herbal medicine.  We will talk  harvest and preservation techniques as well as plant identification, wild crafting how-tos and ethics. We will endeavor to answer the two most asked herbal questions of all time: how do I know which herb to use and when? We’ll explore herbal tastes and energetics as a key part of the answer as well as get acquainted with physical constitutions, humors, doshas and other ways to describe the myriad forms our human bodies take. We’ll round all this out with herbal actions and their effects on tissue states. Each class we will be learning some medicine making techniques as well and getting out hands dirty making different things to take home. I hope to initiate a medicine trade to begin, or build up, each student’s medicine chest. Oh, and a local field trip to gather something fun with a location to be determined by the group. As time and interests allow we will include flower essences and cooking with herbs into our curriculum.

Sound like something you, or someone you know, are into?

Join us  Monday 10-2pm beginning June 30th and ending August 25th (no class August 18th)

$360 ….and as always if you register with a friend you both get a discount ($20 off each)

I am offering some scholarships. If you’re interested in one to make it possible for you to join us send me an email telling me what’s up.

While this class covers the basics I expect that intermediate students will still be challenged by the course content and would find the experience worthwhile. Anyone looking to get past the other most asked herbal question: what is this herb good for? Will find solace in gaining a deeper understanding of the herbal arts.
